I hate overthinking and decor is one of those topics that’ll easily lead you into a rabbit hole of overthinking. So, when we began shopping for living room curtains when we first moved into our home, I really wanted to keep it simple.
IKEA RITVA Curtains
Keeping it simple is why I opted for IKEA’s RITVA curtains. They’re durable, and the perfect balance between thick and airy. They’re 57X98” and fit my windows perfectly. We installed black curtain rods in our home and followed the advice of interior designers online and hung our curations higher to give the illusion that the window are taller and since my couches cover the bottom part of my windows, it worked out really well.
When it comes to pricing, these curtains aren’t the cheapest, but they’re affordable, considering the quality. I love that I can throw them in the washer for an easy clean. I definitely recommend One thing I willl say, is that a steamer definitely helps to take out wrinkles after washing.
I purchased two sets of curtains (4 total) and here’s how it looks with two sets on each side of my double windows.
You can hang the curtains through the rod or through the hidden tabs. Here’s a look at how they look when they’re hung through the curtain rod.
The curtains also include tie backs. Here’s how they look hung through the curtain rod with the tie backs.
Here’s how the curtains look now, hung with the hidden tabs. I prefer this look because it makes the curtains look fuller. My husband built an entertainment center which dug into my curtain rod a bit, so I also adjusted the curtains. I added one curtain on each end and put two in the middle.
I’ve had these curtains for three years now and plan to purchase a few more for my windows upstairs. If you’re looking to purchase them you can do so at IKEA or via Amazon in the link below!
